Heat Treatment (HT)

Products with IPPC/FAO ISPM-15 Mark

Wooden packaging is a reusable, repairable, and recyclable product that utilizes a unique raw material, as it is both sustainable and renewable. By using wood sourced from responsibly managed forests and investing in treatments to reduce phytosanitary risks, companies within the timber supply chain ensure the protection of their most precious asset: the forest.

However, wooden packaging material can sometimes serve as a pathway for the introduction and spread of harmful organisms. Consequently, it has become necessary to mitigate the risk of infestation by subjecting wood packaging intended for export to systematic controls through the definition of standardized phytosanitary treatments.

Recent infestations have convinced the international community of the need to regulate this issue on a unified, international level.

These premises led to the creation of ISPM-15: International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures – Guidelines for Regulating Wood Packaging Material in International Trade. Developed by the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), it was first adopted in March 2002.
